Ruby Red Spritz

Story

The drink began in the Veneto region of Italy around 1800’s. The world spritz is German for splash, and this name was given to the way Austrian soldiers prepared the Italian wine they were drinking. They found it too strong, and in order to make it easier they added a splash (a spritz) of still water.

Ingredients

  • 1 oz dry gin
  • 1/2 oz Campari
  • 1 oz grapefruit juice, freshly squeezed
  • 3 oz chilled dry sparkling rosé
  • Splash of club soda (optional)
  • Garnish: dragon fruit

Steps

  1. Poor dry gin, Campari and grapefruit juice over ice and stir until well-chilled.
  2. Top with sparkling rose.

Garnish

Opt for the floral undertones of dragon fruit instead of the traditional orange slices for garnish. Present your garnishes on cocktail picks or along the rim of the glass for added elegance.
